How To Know If You Are Ready For Change.

Updated: Oct 24, 2023

When life feels overwhelming it is important to feel stable and safe first so you are able to take any next best steps. When you can first determine how ready you are to improve your life, you will become more receptive to engaging support in the first instance to help you begin.

Over the years, I have discovered that the very first point of call in any healing is readiness. If you are feeling stuck or anxious to move forward, you will be closed off from receiving help and feel resistant or unwilling to make any changes that may help you to heal.

I have seen this in healing sessions to the point that client's bodies have rejected medicines and other nutrients as a response to their not being ready for change. It wasn't until we cleared the energy of this that assimilation improved and the medicines began to work properly and the client could heal.

The Readiness Scale.

I developed this self-evaluation method over the years to help my clients determine how ready they are for change. This visual scale serves as an accurate guide of readiness, and prompts what possible steps can be taken to improve those levels.

How ready are you to take the next steps to heal? Let's find out...

Take a moment to think about how you feel about your life currently. Read through each of the following scale elements to see which one resonates most. You may find that you feel differently depending on the topic, so for the purpose of this exercise, tune onto your general overall feeling and rate that now.

  1. Not satisfied or having difficulty. Feeling anxious or not ready to think about what steps can be done.

  2. Contemplating change and/or researching options to improve or feel more in control. Assessing priorities and gathering options to weigh the possibility of making improvements.

  3. Taking action and making changes. Using support or resource options to make changes for improvement.

  4. Feeling better but not where you want to be. Being active and accountable, but still looking for ways for this to feel better.

  5. Happy with where things are and eager to do what you can. Draw on help when you need to and focusing mainly on your priorities.

Once you have determined your rating from the scale, you have a starting point. Knowing where you are at allows you to be gentle and compassionate with yourself, and remove any unrealistic expectations you may have around your healing.

If you registered as (1) - Make peace with where you are. This is completely ok. Be gentle and compassionate with yourself. This stage is about considering ways that lessen your resistance and spark curiosity about what feels manageable for you.

If you registered as (2) - This phase invites you to feel more empowered. Consider the times in your life that you felt most in control, or the events you have overcome and/or improved already.

If you registered as (3) - Feel into the suitable support options you have and assess how suitable they are for you. Who or what else can you engage to fortify your support?

If you registered as (4) - Although you have made progress, it is time to explore more specialised support so you can do the deeper work on specific issues. What next tools and resources will you need?

If you registered as (5) - This is the phase of self-empowerment, having implemented tools and processes to effectively navigate your life. Consider what next goals are you wanting to work on to continue making real and lasting change?
